Observed ‘World Day of Prayer for Creation’

CSI Synod Department of Ecological Concerns celebrated ‘World Day of Prayer for Creations’ at 5.30pm on 1st September 2017 at CSI Eden Eco Spirituality Centre, Othera. September 1 was first proclaimed as a World Day of Prayer for Creation by Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios I for the Orthodox community in 1989, and embraced by other European churches in 2001. Pope Francis declared it a day of Prayer for Creation for the Catholic Church in 2015. Since 2016, the World Council of Churches, Global Catholic Climate Movement, Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, Anglican Communion Environmental Network, Act Alliance, and several other Christian agencies have collaborated in an ecumenical celebration of Season of Creation.

CSI Synod Department of Ecological Concerns, a member of the Anglican Communion of environmental Network has organised the ecumenical worship on 1st September 2017 at CSI Eden Ecospirituality Centre Othara (Pazhayakavu near YMCA building). Rev Viji Varghese Eapen delivered the sermon in the guise of a farmer. Most Rev Thomas K Oommen, Moderator of CSI offered greetings from CSI Synod. H E Joshua Mar Ignathiose, (Catholic Church), His Grace Yuhanon Christomos Metropolitan (Orthodox Church) and Rev Dr Chilkuri Vasanth Rao (Principal designate of UTC, Bengaluru) shared their commitment and concerns during the worship services.
